COVID Visualization Project
January 2021
Project Statement
For my data science bootcamp, our final project was to create a data visualization from a public csv file. Since COVID was an even larger part of our lives at the time compared to now, it was chosen by our professor to be the focus of the data and visualization. I learned a lot and it was fun to see it all come together!

Code is available on request! I do not have a public github.
For one course in my master program we were treated with a bootcamp that culminated in a graphic we generated to show data from a COVID -19 csv file. My group and I decided to focus on data surrounding Virginia since we were based there. Using R, I created a chloropleth map with a range of colors indicating the severity of Covid prevelence measured in confirmed cases in each county of VA. I had to dig deep into documentation and helper codes online to help me mutate the csv to combine the county coordinates with the COVID numbers. Additionally, I created a point for the major cities as well as Charlottesville since that is where UVa is located. I think the map was very informative since it showed the information relationally with different shades of red corresponding to levels of positive COVID cases. Luckily, Charlottesville wasn't bad at the time. I assisted my teammates in creating the next graphic which added insight on VA compared to other states in terms of number of total confirmed cases over time in Python.
I need to get better with coding in all aspects. I feel it will definitly take my engineering viability and skills to the next level. I'm currenly taking LinkedIn classes for Python but I know I still need to bump up my production and find personal projects I can do in Python
